Google AI API Setup

If this is your first time using Gemini, you can create a new project in Google Cloud Console, which is the management interface for Google Cloud Platform services. Here’s how to access it:

  1. Go to Google Cloud Console: Visit https://cloud.google.com/.
  2. Sign In: If you haven’t already, sign in using your Google account. You might need to create a Google account if you don’t have one.
  3. Select or Create a Project:
    • Existing Project: If you’ve used Google Cloud Platform services before, you might see a list of your existing projects on the homepage. You can select an existing project from the list to use for your Gemini integration.
    • New Project: If you’re new to Google Cloud Platform, you won’t see any projects listed. Click the “Create project” button on the homepage to initiate creating a new project.
  4. Fill in Project Details:
    • Project ID: Choose a unique identifier for your project (letters, numbers, and hyphens allowed).
    • Name: Give your project a friendly name that reflects its purpose (e.g., “My Website AI Integration”).
  5. Billing:
    • You’ll see options related to billing for Google Cloud services. Review Google Cloud’s pricing information for Vertex AI and any other services you plan to use.
    • You might need to set up a billing method if you haven’t already. (Free trials are often available for new users).
  6. Create: Once you’ve filled in the details, click the “Create” button to create your new Google Cloud project.

How to create the Google AI API key

  • Go to the Google AI API Key Dashboard: https://aistudio.google.com/app/apikey
  • Create a new project or select an existing one.
  • Create a new API key and Copy
  • Switch to WordPress Dashboard and locate the AI Muse Settings. Paste the key into the “GoogleAI API Key” field.
  • Click “Save API Keys”.

Remember: Keep your API key confidential and don’t share it with anyone you don’t trust.
